Standing Out Among Competitors
See the secret I use to stand out in a world flooded with AI content.
If you’ve used social media lately you’ll see how many voices are out there... it’s hard to stand out. Part of human bonding is trust building. You can’t get your message out if “the public” doesn’t trust you. In this newsletter, I’ll let you know a secret I use to quickly build trust.
One of the reasons short-form video formats like TikTok and Instagram Reels are doing so well is that video creates instant relationships. It’s hard to do that with text or even photos. Especially now with AI so powerful, it’s getting almost impossible to tell what’s real and what isn’t, so we just assume it’s fake or a filter now. But video, and audio, seems more real to us.
Of course you need something to say, but if you pay attention you’ll notice everyone says pretty much the same thing... it’s your presentation and personality that drive interest. It’s the reason why remakes of movies are always so popular. If the “guts” of the story are good, it usually just requires a new presentation style to keep it interesting to a modern audience.
When I setup discovery calls with potential clients, I always use video meetings. I have a high success rate with the calls because it’s easier to sell when you see someone face-to-face. It creates what I like to call the, “we’re set” moment, where the trust is established and everything from that moment forward goes smooth.
Ready to stand out? Record a quick 30-second video introducing yourself or your business and share it with me. Reply to this email with a link or attachment and I’ll let you know my thoughts.
But to get discovery calls I need interest. And the most effective tool for interest, in my experience, has been video. How do I know it’s effective? Because clients tell me. “Ken, I saw your video online.”
Now, I know I don’t do a lot of online video, but what I have done in the past works. I’m in the process of streamlining how I create audio and video. Perhaps another newsletter on that process. Stay tuned.

In closing, I would encourage you to use video and audio to get your message across. I love text, but it’s now a secondary medium unfortunately and subject to corruption by AI.
