The Instagram-ification of Facebook: Why the Blue App is Back
Revive your social strategy: Facebook's Professional Mode offers unlimited followers, analytics, Reels bonuses, and massive discovery for personal brands. Ditch the 'dead' myth—build your audience on a platform with 3 billion users now!
Admit it: You probably haven't thought about your Facebook strategy in years. While we were all chasing TikTok trends and Instagram aesthetics, Meta was quietly rebuilding Facebook into a powerhouse for creators. It’s not just for family updates anymore.
Facebook is now huge for personal branding, small biz, and networking. For the last 8 years or so Facebook has seemed dead. Meta and the crew at Facebook made Instagram a priority. Instagram works great and they’ve kept up with competing with TikTok. But now, Meta has Instagrammed Facebook and brought all the great aspects of Instagram while simplifying the Facebook interface and opening up the 3 billion people on the platform to your message.
We all know people who seem to master posting on Facebook - friends, family, and now influencers. Let’s capture their posting energy with new tools.
TIP: Many people don't realize they can keep their private life private while still having a public "Creator" persona on the same account. Professional Mode unlocks an analytics dashboard similar to what you’d see on a business page.
Here’s a few reasons why I’m making Facebook a priority NOW.
- Personal profiles can now have a professional mode that allows unlimited followers and a clean profile interface... similar to Instagram.
- The Network Effect: You aren't starting from zero. Your high school friends, former colleagues, and neighbors are already there—they are your first "seed" audience.
- Algorithm Love: Facebook is leaning heavily into "Discovery." Your content is now being shown to people who don't follow you, much like the Instagram Explore page.
- The "Human" Factor: Groups allow you to build trust. When you participate as a person (Professional Profile) rather than a brand (Page), people are 10x more likely to engage. Your personal profile can do the selling now.
- You can leverage a Facebook Page for advertising to drive traffic to your personal posts - combining the power of pages and profiles.
- Facebook supports content creators - it will draw more creators to the platform.
- Facebook Reels are consumed a lot - breathing life into the platform.
- No need to worry about crossposting - Facebook can automatically post to Instagram and vice versa. Easy peasy.
Here’s how my personal Facebook Profile looks now:

Notice the "Follow" button instead of "Add Friend”, the "Digital Creator" category, and just a few sections like Reels

Here’s a comparison of old and new Facebook:

|---|---|---|---|
| Follower Limit | Capped at 5,000 Friends | Unlimited Followers | Unlimited Followers |
| Visibility | Mainly Friends & Family | Global Discovery Feed | Public / Search Engines |
| Analytics | None | Professional Dashboard | Meta Business Suite |
| Monetization | No | Reels Bonuses & Stars | Full Ad Revenue / Shops |
| Networking | Personal (Add Friend) | Creator-style (Follow) | Brand-style (Like/Follow) |
